Sir Richard Francis Burton was a fencing instructor. He was also an adventurer, author, linguist, knight of the British Realm, diplomat, scholar and all around interesting gentleman. He was not always liked or approved of. He was, however, always fascinating.
Burton travel in Africa and the Middle East and studied cultures that had never been seen by western eyes. Once while being pursued by tribesmen he was transfixed by a spear through one cheek and out the other. He escaped, anyway. Sir Richard Francis Burton was one of the great explorers. He is entombed in a what appears to be a tent.
